Anastasia (Tasia) Trevino is a writer and musician from the Central Coast of California, where she currently lives.

She has also lived in Los Angeles, Austin, and Iowa City.

She dropped out of high school to work at a record store, then became the first woman in her family to receive a college degree: a BA in history from UCLA. She was the lead singer and songwriter of a band for 10 years. Recurring concerns of her work include: the mythology of California, music, class, and family, particularly her Chicano and Okie lineage.

She received her MFA in poetry at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop where she was awarded two Maytag Fellowships and the 2018 Academy of American Poets’ Harold Taylor Prize. Her debut novel, a rural noir, is forthcoming from Viking Penguin.

She hosts a monthly astrology-based film series at the SLO Film Center’s Palm Theatre.
